BTV video dramatic plea for peace

BEIJING—Abominati made a rare rock appearance in The Forbidden City on Sunday for the BTV gala foreign festival.

  In the former Emperor’s taboo palace, where concubines once roamed, and heads once rolled, BTV cameras caught it all as Abominati sung Ozzy’s Crazy Train. 

  “Somehow they let us in, and we kept our heads” quipped Tim Lies, lead singer.  “We hope this is many firsts for the band.”

  BTV director Ji Lei orchestrated the video in dramatic fashion.  The ironic setting in the former palace of imperialistic excess brings new meaning to Ozzy Osbourne’s words, with a few lyrical twists by Tim to turn it into a present day plea for peace.  Broadcast date will be announced later.

  The essence of Abominati joins together tribes and nations from around the green world in a global celebration of peace and a healing environment.

  “Our main goal is to be the first Chinese band to find international success and worldwide recognition,” said Lies.  “I hope you fully understand what I am saying and its importance-and I hope you will support us.”

  Great Expectations!  But first China—then the world!  As music theatre, certainly Abominati boasts original, memory-calling songs.  Right now, the band is working on the debut album which promises to be a New Sound fusing Eastern and Western rock in a way never heard before.

Next BTV performance in mid-January

Rock is not dead in China for Abominati will perform again on BTV during a show scheduled for mid-January.  Performance and broadcast dates to be determined.

  “This is another opportunity to put our band in front of millions nationwide,” said Lies.

  BTV is an affiliate of CCTV, the most popular TV station  in the world, boasting an audience over one billion viewers.

Debut album NRR! movie bundle

Right now, Abominati’s primary focus is producing the debut album: Year of the Dragon.  The band is go into the studio next week.   Necro of Silent Resentment will help produce the album at his studio near Zhichunli.  The process will take about three months—but, if all goes well, expect an EP demo by Christmas.  That’s a present for Satan Claus.

  Band members are Tim Lies (vocals), Zhao Li Zhi (guitar), Li Zhi Chao (guitar), Mackenzie Nellis (bass), and Qi Dan (drums).  Dan Finn will add keyboard and Feng guitar on selected songs.  Guo Zhi Gang will add Chinese percussion.

  As an added bonus, New Rock Revolution! promotional China underground rock feature movie will be bundled with the debut album.  Tim plays Lucifer Joans, a deported American rock star, who rises from homelessness in Harbin to find success in the taboo world of the Chinese underground rock scene. 

 New Rock Revolution! stars Chaoziran, Tim’s original band which toured China two years ago.  The movie features top bands from Beijing and over 50 Chinese songs of multiple genres.  The most comprehensive China rock movie ever made, the movie shows Beijing when rock was still raw and the bands were still real.  The rock ‘n’ roll wet dream—China style!

Abominati conclude three-month rock series at 13 Club

“Great time and great people all around,” Tim said. “It was a chance for us to jump into the fire and get our stage legs.  We thank 13 Club for its great support.”   

  Abominations  666-song set opened with Ozzy’s Crazy Train, followed by four originals—Marduk*, Shakedown, Sins of the World, Ride the Red Dragon, and closed with ACDC’s Highway to Hell.

Tim performs on BTV’s In Beijing

On Oct. 27, Tim performed in duet with acoustic guitarist Sha Jian Wei during a taped broadcast of BTV’s In Beijing directed by Tao Jieli.  The two sang an acoustic version of The Eagles Hotel California.  Tim spoke some Chinese words describing Sha’s original rendition of the songs lyrics.
